Being top of any rating system is always a cause for celebration, especially when it is judged by impartial, knowledgeable and informed people.
We recently achieved top ranking on Trip Advisor as the number 1 hotel out of 44 properties in Guildford for the best value in the entire area, as voted by our guests.
It seems that our recent refurbishment and the addition of air conditioning in every bedroom have really made a difference, but it’s some rather smaller matters that a lot of guests are commenting on.
As our Managing Director, Matthew Milliken explains.
‘Installing the air conditioning in every bedroom was clearly a major investment, but it was one that had to be made because the majority of guests expect this facility, especially in a 4 Star hotel like Mandolay. The refurbishment programme is ongoing, and because we only update a few rooms at a time, we can minimise the impact it has on our guests, having our own in-house maintenance team certainly helps as well.
However, as is often the case, it’s the little things that people notice. Complimentary fresh coffee in our reception area is a big hit with guests, and wherever possible we try to arrange free room upgrades, we have started making and serving our own home-made jam, and added considerably to our afternoon tea selections.’
