In January we were delighted to announce the opening of our brand new ‘aparthotel’ facility, The Residence, and like any new idea we were unsure of the way that it might be received.
Just two months later and it is 100% certain that we had absolutely no cause for concern.
The Residence is a fully self-contained studio apartment within the main hotel, offering independent living space with complete access to hotel facilities, in what one guest described as ‘the best of both worlds’.
Decorated to Mandolay standards and featuring a fully fitted kitchen, lounge area, and King size bed, The Residence is light and bright with more than a touch of luxury.
Pre-bookings from overseas guests have been steady, with many couples visiting their children studying at the University of Surrey, the School of Law, and the School of Veterinary Medicine, all just minutes away from Mandolay.
Equipped for longer stays than a traditional hotel bedroom, The Residence has also attracted interest from local estate agencies, keen to show Guildford off to potential house buyers moving into the area.
As Sales Director Tami Vickery explains, the opening of The Residence was a calculated risk.
‘The new facility represents a considerable investment, but we knew that if we were going to do it, we had to do it right. The Kitchen is a great example of our approach, with Bosch cooker, washing machine and dishwasher all discretely ‘hidden’ behind top quality finishes.’
Regular maid service is available, as is 24 hour reception, room service, and use of the hotel bar, and AA Rosette accredited Grill Restaurant.
Tami is obviously delighted by the reaction from everyone that has visited The Residence.
‘We wanted to create a real ‘home away from home’ feel for The Residence, and first impressions have positively suggested that we have succeeded. This is a facility unique to Mandolay, and it is already proving to be an exciting and popular addition to the accommodation choices that Guildford has to offer’
