We believe that there is no such thing as a standard Wake, or Funeral Reception, certainly not in our extensive experience, and our service style can be as formal, or informal as you require. You might choose a finger, or fork buffet, or perhaps a sit-down meal, drinks on arrival, an open bar, cash bar, or no bar at all, we are here to deliver your wishes.
We also appreciate that different generations might not have the same ideas, we can provide quiet areas, with lounge style seating if required, as well as well-lit, open style seating for those that wish to congregate in larger groups. Each of our spaces has its own speaker system, allowing you to play a choice of music that suits the feeling of the day, we also have screens on which families often choose to use for film montages, celebrating a person’s life.
We are always pleased to work with local funeral directors, or perhaps arrangements will be made in person, again, the choice is yours, and of course we welcome opportunities for you to visit ahead of time, to discuss requirements, dietary needs, service styles and to view the venue.

THE MANDOLAY SUITE
Our unique, soundproofed system allows us to switch between layouts with ease, from single span to 2, or 4 separate rooms in an instant, the choice, as always, is yours.
From the moment your guests set foot on the steps leading to the suite, past the attractive ‘flower wall’ and beneath the stunning, 200 drop chandelier, they will be transported to a party venue like no other in Guildford
It is difficult to describe the drama of entering a beautifully lit, wood panelled room, with a built-in exclusive bar and full-service facilities, it really is a sight that you can only fully appreciate first hand.
You will be amazed by what we are able to achieve in this unique space. When fully opened, the suite is comfortably the largest party venue in the area, capable of seating up to 260 guests for a dinner, or 400+ for a less formal occasion. The individual rooms that comprise the suite are suitable for smaller events, with our unique sliding panel room dividers providing almost complete soundproofing.

THE SURREY SUITE
Comprising 3 rooms that can be used individually, as a pair or opened out completely for a stunning full-floor space featuring private bar and full service facilities.
Our London, York and Epsom rooms are perfect for any celebration or occasion, hosting a minimum of 40 guests in any configuration. The entire place is ‘built for parties’, with its own dance floor and integral sound system.
The three rooms together can quickly and easily transform, creating a single span area with its own bar, comfortable seating and exclusive facilities separate from other parts of the hotel. This astonishing flexibility allows your party to grow to up to 120 guests, with access to the private garden, terrace, and Gazebo Lawn via the ground level double-doors.

OAK SUITE
Situated on the reception level adjacent to the hotel’s stylish bar and restaurant, The Oak Room typifies the flexibility of the facilities here at Mandolay. Whilst it is comfortably the smallest of our corporate spaces, The Oak Room offers the prospect of intimate private dining, a boardroom style meeting with presentation area for 20 delegates or a well-equipped room for corporate receptions or presentations.
With ample natural daylight The Oak Room can be transformed from daytime meeting to evening reception area in a matter of minutes and is also the perfect space for an exhibition ante room or registration area.

Here at The Grill and Bar 36, our focus is on informality, with great food and drinks presented without fuss or fanfare.

Bespoke Gin, Vodka and Cocktail menu’s show our dedication to providing the exceptional as standard. Our cigar offering is second to none in Guildford, with a range to provide the perfect smoke, whatever your taste.
