Top Family Shows in and Around Guildford this December
Panto season is almost upon us…oh yes it is, and Guildford has more choices than ever in 2023, from traditional pantomimes to brilliant family shows, we have it all.
Here’s our quick rundown of what’s on this year.
Cinderella – Yvonne Arnaud Theatre – 2nd December to January 7th
The Fairy Godmother of all Pantomimes, starring the fabulous Lucy Benjamin as the Wicked Stepmother, and CBeebies favourite, James Merry as Buttons.
But, we have to give a very special mention to Guildford institution, Mr Peter ‘PG’ Gordon, who will once again be bringing the part of Ugly Sister to life in a way that only he can, and this year he will be doing it alongside ‘proper’ actor, Matt Pinches, co-founder of Guildford Shakespeare Company no less!
Peter Pan – New Victoria Theatre, Woking – 8th December to January 7th
Anton Du Beke stars as Smee, the scene stealer to beat all scene stealers, with veteran comedian Paul Chuckle as Starkey and genuine West End Theatre great, Bob Harms as the meanest Captain Hook ever!
Dick Whittington – Godalming Borough Hall – 9th December to December 31st
Traditional pantomime at its very finest, presented by the ever reliable and wonderfully creative Wysch Productions, this show will be professional, slick, beautifully choreographed, and very, very funny.
Billed as ‘The Pantomime Paved with Gold’, this promises to deliver memorable performances from a talented cast, including Matthew Peter-Carter, and Rachel Warrick-Clarke
Sleeping Beauty Adult Panto – The Star Inn, Guildford – 23rd November to January 6th
Absolutely NOT a family pantomime, it’s so rude we can’t even publish its full title, but suffice it to say, it is an adult show based loosely on the story of Sleeping Beauty.
This is the 12th year of the Guildford Adult Panto, and it sells out for every single show, so please book early if the idea of bawdy humour tickles your fancy.
Stick Man – Yvonne Arnaud Theatre – 10th – 12th November
Not a pantomime but a genuine heart warmer to kick off the festive season in great family style
‘This award-winning production, from the team behind Zog and Zog and the Flying Doctors, features a trio of top actors and is packed full of puppetry, songs, live music and funky moves.’
