A quick roundup of people and businesses from in and around Guildford that we love.
Of course we love Molton Brown, their products have been a feature of our bathrooms for years, and we know how popular they are.
If you are in town during your stay, why not visit their fabulous shop on the High Street and let their friendly and knowledgeable team guide you to your perfect scent, and possibly pick up some early Christmas gift ideas.
While you are strolling down to the High Street, camera buffs should check out the London Camera Exchange. Experts in all things film, image and camera related they really are the cat’s pyjamas when it comes to practical, helpful advice.
Tucked in right next to Abbott’s Hospital is Art + Grind, an independent coffee shop with a difference. As the name suggests it is packed with art supplies and treasures, it’s also a great place to visit with children, there’s loads of materials on hand to get them drawing and colouring, and the cakes are really great too.
We should also mention the fabulous Abbot’s Hospital, founded in 1619 by George Abbot, former Archbishop of Canterbury this is one of the few remaining Alms Houses in the UK. Guided tours are available, so please check out their website for details.
A little further out of town is the iconic Guildford Cathedral, and while it is well worth a visit at any time, we love their Candlelight Concerts, with everything from the ‘Music of Coldplay’ to Vivaldi’s timeless classic ‘Four Seasons’, these are genuine spectacles not to be missed.
We love, love, love Stoke Park. Just a five minute stroll from our front door, this 130 acre park features unspoiled woodland, rolling grassland, children’s play areas, tennis and mini golf, a boating pool, rose and sensory gardens, and a great little café. Well worth a visit, just turn right out of the hotel and stay on London Road, you will be there in no time.
Experience Guildford looks after the town centre shops, bars, clubs and pubs, and it is the perfect website to visit to learn all about special offers, events, openings and promotions. Guildford also has the only Tourist Information Centre in Surrey, based at Guildford House Gallery on the High Street, the wonderful TIC Team will help guide you around town and beyond.
Don’t forget, you can pick up a free town centre map at Mandolay reception, and we are always on hand to offer help and give directions.
See you next month with some more things that we love!
