As an independently owned hotel, we are always keen to support other independents in and around town (that’s not to say that we don’t love our Marks and Sparks, Boots, and White Company favourites).

But it’s only natural that we have a special affinity with the independently owned and operated shops, bars, cafes and restaurants in our beautiful town centre.

So, let’s get started with a nod towards the wonderful Food for Thought, a cornucopia of health food and organic products. The TARDIS like shop is packed with natural cosmetics, remedies and delicious treats, but what we love, love, love is the friendly expert advice ion offer from a really knowledgeable team.

Fallen Angel is a cabaret and burlesque bar owned and operated by Nick and Charlotte, the driving forces behind the fabulous Guildford Fringe Company. It’s loud, brash, more than a little risqué and great fun. They have a packed events diary including Drag Bingo on December 19th…eyes down for a Full House!

We can’t get enough of the Guildford Farmer’s Market, especially at this time of year with the stalls groaning under the weight of fresh produce and great gift ideas. It’s on the High Street on December 17th.

What’s not to love about a book packed with special offers?

The Guildford Book of Offers can be found at various retail outlets around town, as well as the Tourist Information Centre. Inside you will find vouchers for things like 30% off facial treatments at Balm Clinic, 20% off stationery purchases at the fantastic Biddles, and 20% off haircuts at Epic Barbers.

You can view all of the offers at the Experience Guildford website, and see the best places to pick up your book of vouchers.

…and finally, we absolutely adore Illuminate Guildford, the magical light trail around the historic Guildford Castle. It’s open until January 5th and tickets can be booked right here.

We’ll be back next month with more stuff and places that we love in Guildford, if you have any special favourites that you would like us to check out, please let us know.
