We will kick off with a mention for our very special friends at Guildford Lions, and their annual bonfire celebration. Saturday November 2nd is the date for the Firework Fiesta, at Stoke Park, with fabulous live music, great food & drink, children’s entertainment, and of course, plenty of well supervised firework fun.

All the money raised will support the Lions community welfare fund, and the wonderful Oakleaf mental health charity.

Our wonderful neighbours have a packed diary of events, kicking off with an Evening with Stuart Broad on the 1st, the former England cricketer is always great value and it’s sure to be an entertaining, and very funny event.

On Sunday 10th, it’s another cricketing giant that takes to the stage as the greatest seam bowler ever, Jimmy Anderson marks the release of his new autobiography with a stunning celebration of his mesmerising career at the very top of world cricket.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra make a welcome return to Guildford on the 14th, expect nothing less than a brilliant night of music (and quite a few laughs if previous performances are anything to go by)

Comedy highlights include Rob Newman on Friday 15th, Tom Stade on the 11th, Hellfire Comedy Club on the 21st, the magnificent Kerry Godliman on the 27th, with Robin Morgan wrapping November up on the 30th.

The Ice Hockey season is well underway at The Spectrum, with local heroes the Guildford Flames taking on Glasgow Clan, Coventry Blaze, and Manchester Storm in what could be a pivotal month in the title race.

If you’ve never been to an ice hockey match, give it a go, it’s fast, furious and very competitive.

The fabulously refurbished Yvonne Arnaud Theatre has hit the jackpot once again this month, with the brilliantly funny Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) running between the 11th and 16th. This affectionate adaptation of the novel won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy, and it comes to Guildford direct from its West End run.

Other highlights at the Yvonne Arnaud include satirical great Andy Zaltzman on the 3rd, An Audience with Charles Dance on the 4th (we have tickets and can’t wait for this!), Andy Parsons takes the stage on the 9th, while November 17th it’s the turn of national treasure, Su Pollard to entertain us as only she can !

Fans of Rebus will not want to miss ‘A Game Called Malice’ with the brilliant Gray O’Brien bringing Sir Ian Rankin’s legendarily bluff detective to life alongside a superb cast including Abigail Thaw.

And finally we have to give plenty of advance notice that the Yvonne Arnaud festive family pantomime begins its run on Sat November 30th. Robin Hood stars Lucy Benjamin as the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham. With our very own Peter Gordon returning for his 19th year in panto, and another local favourite Matt Pinches the show will be a sell-out riot.

(Keep an eye out for the hilarious Ricky Oakley as Robin Hood, Ricky is the star of Magic Goes Wrong, and is destined for absolute mega-stardom.)
