Welcome to our regular round-up of events and performances in and around Guildford.
March has something for everyone, from sports and activities, live performances, art shows, plays and even a Farmer’s Market.
Let’s start with our great friends, and close neighbours at G Live. Highlights include performances from Al Murray, Alice Roberts, Tony Hadley, John Bishop, and the wonderful Brian Conley.
But two G Live shows that we have really got our eye on feature an Evening with the extraordinary Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE – ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’ on March 25th, and Strictly Come Dancing legend and judge, Anton Du Beke, taking to the stage with his live band, a guest singer and dancers, on March 8th.
Details of the entire packed schedule from G Live can be found on their website here.
Just a short stroll from Mandolay is the glorious Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, an absolute gem of a venue, and one of our favourite places in Guildford.
Among the treasures in store for March are live performances from comedy greats Miles Jupp, and Lucy Beaumont, and ‘Tap Factory’, an evening of internationally acclaimed dancing, acrobatics, music and comedy.
Dreamcoat Stars on March 26th is a star-studded concert featuring…you guessed it, all the hits from Joseph, along with smash numbers from Jersey Boys, ‘Les Mis’, Hairspray, and We Will Rock You among a host of other favourites.
Then, there’s a run of the riotous ‘The Time Machine – A Comedy’ brought to life by the wonderful Original Theatre Company and described as ‘Breathtaking… gloriously silly, unrestrained fun’ by The Stage.
On a more serious footing, the original courtroom drama ‘Twelve Angry Men’ runs from March 12th – 16th, with Gary Webster, Michael Greco, and Jason Merrells along with a cast of other well-known faces…an absolute Must See.
We promised you a Farmer’s Market, and here it is. Tuesday March 5th sees our monthly market, taking over the High Street with stalls selling local produce, great gifts, and wonderful street food.
For sports fans, there’s a packed fixture list for Guildford Flames, including home games with Nottingham Panthers, Glasgow Clan, and Coventry Blaze (Flames versus Blaze…there may be some fireworks!)
Can we also wish the Flames good luck in the Challenge Cup Final against the mighty Sheffield Steelers on March 13th.
…and finally, can we draw your attention to Guildford House, a fascinating 17th century, Grade 1 listed building at the top of Guildford High Street. Entry is free, and there are regular exhibitions and displays, featuring works from local, and internationally important artists. Guildford House is also home to the Tourist Information centre and their incredibly friendly team.
